Nearby CANCELADA is a typical Spanish village offering an array of traditional Spanish bars, cafes and restaurants. A lovely destination for an evening sunset meander through the little streets and squares.

SAN PEDRO DE ALCANTARA is the closest large town. Forming part of Marbella, San Pedro is packed with Spanish restaurants, tapas bars, ice cream cafés as well as all sorts of shops and language schools. San Pedro boasts a lovely paseo (promenade) along the seafront – perfect for an energetic speed walk or a gentle stroll while watching the kitesurfers and watersport aficionados. In San Pedro you can also practise your swing at a golf driving range, or try wake boarding at the Cableski lake

The world famous marina of PUERTO BANUS is only seven kilometres away. D. José Banús was the original promoter of this beautiful Dutch marina which welcomes more than three million visitors a year. “The Port” is a popular nightspot with its diverse selection of bars, restaurants, nightclubs and designer shops – something for everyone. Spend the evening dining in a world class restaurant, stroll around the marina admiring the shops and spectacular boats, or simply go to people watch and experience the wonderfully sophisticated atmosphere. By day, Puerto Banús is a shopper’s paradise – don’t forget your credit card!

ESTEPONA is a typical Andalucian town, offering a large variety of leisure activities. The marina’s restaurants serve all types of delicacies during the evening – fresh fish is a particular specialty of the area. The terrace bars provide popular meeting places for tourists and locals alike, day and night, and the Sunday morning market is one of the most popular in the area.

MARBELLA is 14 kilometres away and known throughout the world as one of the most sophisticated and classy holiday destinations in Europe. Marbella boasts 24 kilometres of beaches as well as dramatic mountain ranges protecting the city to the north and creating a unique microclimate ensuring fair weather pretty much all year round.  

In the centre, there are all sorts of different shops and stores, from small independent boutiques to designer emporiums. The “Old Town” of Marbella is a must visit – explore the cobbled side streets to see the best of the town. You’ll find great value Spanish tapas bars hidden away between more expensive and luxurious restaurants, as well as many buildings of historical and religious interest. The seafront promenade also has a huge array of restaurants and stalls, as well as play areas to keep the children amused.

MALAGA is a beautiful city that is often overlooked by visitors to the Costa del Sol. It has several renowned theatres, fantastic restaurants, shops and bars, as well as a large port welcoming many cruise ships to the area. Culturally, Malaga has much to offer, for example:

• Picasso Museum
  The Picasso Museum was originally Picasso’s idea – he wanted some of his art to be displayed in the town of his birth. It currently houses 233 of his works which demonstrate the array of techniques, materials and styles he mastered. It’s also possible to visit the birthplace of Picasso which is not far from the Museum.
• Malaga Cathedral
  Malaga cathedral was built between 1528 and 1782 near the site of a former mosque. While original plans had allowed for two towers, lack of funds resulted in the completion of only one, giving rise to the name by which the cathedral is affectionately referred to, La Manquita, loosely interpreted as “the one armed woman”. The interior has influences of the Renaissance and baroque styles.

GIBRALTAR is an easy 50 kilometre drive away from Bena Vista and there is so much to see when you get there. If you travel to Gibraltar independently, we recommend that you leave your hire car in Spain and walk across the border. Don’t forget your passports! Highlights to see include:

• St Michael’s Cave
  A dramatic natural grotto with, among other delights, a cross-section of a stalagmite on view showing the history of its growth. The cave is also used as a venue for concerts and forms a magnificent auditorium for classical music in particular.
• Gibraltar Museum
  Situated in the centre of town just off Main Street in Bomb House Lane, the Museum tells the history of Gibraltar from its prehistoric beginnings to the present day.
• La Alameda – Botanical Gardens
  The gardens are located near the Grand Parade and cable car terminal and were opened in 1816 to provide a recreational area for the Garrison at the time. Still today, they are a sublime area of calm away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Take a walk along the avenues and admire the olive trees, Mediterranean stone pines, Canarian dragon trees and palms from the Atlantic islands. The flowerbeds display flora from sub-tropical areas such as South Africa and Australia.
• Cable Car
  The most breathtaking way to reach the top of the Rock is via cable car. You can stop off at the first stage to visit the Barbary Apes’ Den and St Michael’s Cave, then carry on up to the summit where there is a restaurant and observation area. The cable car does not operate on Sundays.

Bioparc Fuengirola (Fuengirola Zoo)
The zoo is in Fuengirola town, approximately 47 kilometres from Bena Vista. It was originally intended as a centre to promote breeding of endangered species and prides itself on housing its animals in as close to their natural environment as possible. A great day out with or without the kids!

Selwo Adventure Park
Selwo is just six kilometres away from Bena Vista and is a unique safari park where nature, adventure and fun come together. Jump on to one of the 4×4 trailers to be driven through the park and see elephants, giraffes, Bengal tigers, lions, cheetahs, rhinoceroses and so much more. Then walk back over the African style swing bridges and through the giant aviary to see some of your favourites close up. 

Crocodile Park
A unique adventure for the whole family with exciting guided tours, live demonstrations and feeding. You can even hold a live crocodile and meet the largest crocodile in Europe.

Tivoli World
Tivoli World is an amusement theme park in Benalmádena (approximately 57 kilometres from Bena Vista) with exciting rides, different shows and varied theme bars and restaurants.

Golf
Bena Vista is situated in a prestigious area with approximately 25 golf courses within less than 45 minutes’ drive.
